This oil landscape was painted from an outdoor oil study and pencil sketches. I had my back to a very strong and constant wind which was blowing brilliant patches of light away towards the horizon at great speed. These moving highlights gave a very clear understanding of even the distant mountains contours as they climbed up, curved over and plunged down.
