Website -

www.kenbushe.co.uk 2002- present

For the past few years, I’ve concentrated on promoting and selling my own work from this website.

This started in 2002, partly as an exercise to see if it could be done, but also because I saw potential of the internet for dramatically changing the relationship between artist and the art buyer.

For the first time in history, artists can represent themselves and their work to a large audience and be sure that the story behind their work is factual and meaningful. Each work can have its own commentary directly from the artist as well as accurate details of techniques and materials used. As the artist (living!) can be contacted through e-mail, provenance of each work is securely established.

Artists have the satisfaction of conversing with viewers from all over the globe and this direct feedback is an invaluable input into the creative process. The reverse may also be true and the extended dialogue that can result from images or commentary within a website can only help to promote understanding between artist and those interested in their work.

The internet greatly facilitates the commissioning of work and a large proportion of my work is now directly commissioned in this way.

What started as an experiment is now established and I intend to continue representing myself in this way as the internet becomes increasingly accepted as a gateway to viewing and purchasing art.
