The first time I came to this spot, a ruined sandstone castle on a headland overlooking the southern tip of Lunan Bay, and got my first view from Red Castle - this rainbow was arcing into a dark North Sea. The river carved precisely through the dunes and arced across the beach. Having arrived here in such a dramatic moment, the image has stayed with me ever since, unformed until now.
