Drawing animals at Edinburgh Zoo - good practise. There’s no telling how long you’ll have to finish the sketch so unnecessary detail or undue fussing becomes impractical.

This guy was amazing - He mostly sat stock still while I worked with his head either in profile or turned to stare right into me. I’d known most animals give baboons a wide berth but never really realised why untill I saw these teeth. Every now and then he’d stretch over and appear to take a very deliberate look at what I was doing.

A big advantage of the lidded palette is that the paint mixed up and used outdoors can be brought home to continue the work later.
