Gorilla 7 - Industrial landscape commission

Commission - Oil rig “Gorilla 7”   22x26ins   Oil on Canvas      - Collection of Mark Curtin, USA

This commission was based on an earlier work of the Oil Rig Gorilla 7 leaving the Port of Dundee, Scotland several years ago. In this work I tried to take the intense luminosity of the scene further than I did in the earlier, more formal painting, using the first work as source material for this much more freely painted commission.

With the permission of my client I quote the following extracts from his e-mail to me confirming that this work arrived safely.-

“Ken,

Package arrived today quite intact. Excellent packing job. Protected the painting without fail yet it was easy to remove with the careful cuts of a knife.

And yes, this thing is just overwhelming. I know I asked you to go to a smaller canvas size but this painting is still larger than I had anticipated. It’s gorgeous.

Brilliant. You could not have done a better job. It’s what I anticipated and more. The jpg image was a nice way to gauge the final result but presence is another matter altogether. I can’t wait to take it to the framer and put it on my office wall.”

Thanks very much for sending these pictures Mark - this is the first time I’ve ever seen one arrive!
