Painted on thick weave linen canvas, first with opaque oil colour and then with transparent oil glazes in places to develop as far as possible the luminosity and range of colours seen in a clear dawn sky like this. I spend a lot of time at this spot which gives a great view south east over the beach and out to the North Sea.
