A modest but well preserved Iron Age structure known as an Earth House or Souterrain (under earth). The underground section was thought to have been used for food storage or maybe even used to keep cows!
The masonry is beautiful and long lasting would be an understatement.
These are the foundations of 3 interlinked circular dwellings which would be roofed with poles and thatch of some kind - as would the underground store.
This stone lined trough was thought to used to keep a store of shellfish alive and was probably lined in turn with clay when in use.
The row of upended slabs formed a drainage channel to keep the passage dry
