An outdoor tonal study painted first at Barry Mill, near Carnoustie in Angus, Scotland and completed in my studio
I used thin oil glazes of mostly burnt sienna and burnt umber to establish the main elements of the painting outdoors and later, in my studio, added highlights with thicker, more opaque oil paint.
